Build Families, Building Futures
Jane's Fund grants honor the legacy of Jane Russell, who focused her giving and volunteerism in Pierce County. In keeping with Jane's personal form of giving, grants from Jane's Fund are invitation-only and focus on individuals to help them build their futures in Pierce County and beyond.
Jane's Fund focuses on education, scholarships, and supporting homeless youth and their families.
In 2015, the TRFF board approved 3-year funding for four organizations that provide consistent support to Tacoma and Pierce County students who are first-generation-to-college, single parents, or who belong to underserved communities in order for them to have success in school and their communities.
- Act Six: Act Six connects community ministries with faith- and social justice-based colleges to equip emerging urban / community leaders to attend college and engage in their communities.
- College Success Foundation (CSF): CSF provides a unique integrated system of supports and scholarships to inspire underserved, low-income students to finish high school, graduate from college and succeed in life.
- The Greater Tacoma Community Foundation (GTCF): Our funding supports ongoing history of more than 3,000 individual scholarships awarded from 85+ scholarship funds over the last 33 years.
- Palmer Scholars: Our funding provides college scholarships and mentoring services to economically disadvantaged minority students in Pierce County to help them advance their dreams.
